I haven't seen this done in awhile.It's done to be able to tilt the whole front end forward to work on it,but also when it's closed you can still open the hood like a factory hood for quick tuning and the like.The only reason he has the hood open in this shot separate from the front end,is too show it off.My friend and I did this to his Camaro race car. Great photo my friend.
